Servant of Krishna, and your companion through the Pragmatic Gita

Given name, Vinayak Raghuvamshi

Greetings, dear seekers of wisdom and truth. For more than twenty years the Bhagavad Gita has been my constant companion, and it is my joy to walk through it with you, one verse at a time.

A pragmatic path, walked for over twenty years

I am a devoted servant of the Supreme Lord Shri Krishna. My given name is Vinayak Raghuvamshi, yet it is the calling of my soul that has led me to the path of a humble servant of the Divine. I am not a traditional Swami or a Saint. I come to this path with a pragmatic mind, always looking for the place where ancient wisdom meets the life we are actually living. My own journey has been one of learning, unlearning, and relearning, a moving process that has taught me to treat spirituality as something living and breathing rather than a fixed set of beliefs.

How the search began

My love for this path grew in a home that revered books and the pursuit of knowledge. Surrounded by philosophy, spirituality and science, I was drawn most of all to the question of God, and that single question became a lifelong quest to understand the divine presence that fills all of existence. The search was never simple. It was full of deep, existential questions that pushed at the edges of my consciousness.

I found encouragement in Einstein's words, that we cannot solve our problems with the same level of consciousness that created them, and it stirred in me a longing to raise my own awareness and see life more widely. That longing carried me through meditation and through the sacred texts of both East and West, from Plato and Socrates who trained my thinking, to Swami Vivekananda whose Bhakti Yoga and Karma Yoga spoke straight to my heart. In the end every path led me home to the Bhagavad Gita.

A computer scientist's way into scripture

By training I am a computer scientist, and for years I taught computer science to students. That work left me with a habit I could not put down, the habit of taking something complex and breaking it into clear, manageable parts. When I turned that same habit toward the Gita, it became the heart of how I teach. My hope is always to carry the depth of these teachings across to you in a way that is simple to follow and genuinely useful, without losing an ounce of their meaning.

Why these teachings are offered freely

I believe the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, the Bhakti Sutra and Vedanta belongs to everyone, whatever their background or circumstances. So I offer these classes freely, to a wonderful mix of students from all over the world and from every kind of profession. They are not lectures so much as shared explorations, where old wisdom meets present day challenges and we look together for something we can actually use. Knowing that time and distance are real, I record the sessions so you can learn at your own pace and return to them whenever you wish. None of this is for accolades or gain. I offer it as a small service to God, a way of honouring the Divine by passing on what I have been given.

With gratitude

The teachers who lit the way

Over the years I have studied many translations and commentaries by teachers far greater than myself. I owe each of them a debt.
